For filmmakers, producers & rights holders

Mzansi has more
stories to tell.

We are building a home for South African episodic stories and the people who make them. Bring your story to the BioSkop conversation.

A curated pilot

BioSkop is in private testing. We are preparing a focused, rights-cleared catalogue before commercial launch, with content partnerships agreed directly.

The stories we want to explore

A local point of view.
A reason to watch the next episode.

Voices close to home

Stories with a recognisable South African perspective: the places, languages, characters and relationships that make a world feel lived in.

Complete episodic journeys

Coherent series with an intentional episode structure. The pilot will favour a focused catalogue that can deliver a satisfying story and a sustainable release schedule.

Made to work on a phone

Thoughtful framing, clear sound and readable captions. Short episodes and vertical presentation are our editorial direction, with each title assessed for the viewing experience.

Beyond one production

Let viewers discover
the people behind the story.

A strong connection with a character can become a lasting connection with the talent.

BioSkop’s viewing experience includes talent following across eligible productions. Genuine credits and permitted profile materials help audiences recognise a familiar face and find their next story.

Every released title needs accurate cast and crew information, with the permissions required for profiles, images and promotional use. Credits recognise creative participation; commercial entitlements are agreed separately.

Our partnership approach

Get the important
details clear from the start.

Rights that fit the release

Each licence should define streaming territory, term and the intended Free or Premium availability. Sponsored viewing and promotional clips need their own clear permissions.

We will discuss the chain of rights, music and performer permissions, accurate credits, age suitability and any restrictions before preparing a title for release.

A conversation does not transfer ownership or create exclusivity. Those questions belong in the signed agreement.

Terms that can be understood

Commercial arrangements are negotiated title by title. Signed agreements identify beneficiaries, eligible revenue, permitted deductions, reporting periods and payment terms.

There is no automatic royalty percentage. A planning reserve in BioSkop’s financial model is not a promised creator rate, and a cast or crew credit does not create a payment entitlement.

Participation depends on editorial suitability, rights clearance and an agreed release plan.

Creator reporting

A statement should
tell a clear story, too.

Traceable receipts. Explicit allocations. Documented adjustments.

Our administrative reporting uses collected, reconciled receipts attributed to a title and reporting period. Draft statements show the signed agreement, permitted deductions and agreed beneficiary allocations.

Viewing activity helps us understand the audience; a view counter alone does not establish earnings. Corrections and reversals keep a record that finance can review.

Statements are prepared for review, rather than automatic payouts. Payments are handled outside the app under the agreed terms. Creator self-service uploads and accounts are not part of the current pilot.

How to begin

From an introduction
to a prepared release.

Start a conversation

Tell us who you are, the story’s premise, its language, format and production status. Include a brief description of the rights you control and a permitted screener or trailer if available.

Agree rights and terms

Review editorial fit and the proposed release together. Confirm rights, credits, promotional permissions and the commercial arrangement in a signed agreement.

Prepare for release

Prepare approved masters, artwork, captions and accurate metadata. Complete quality and suitability checks, then agree a schedule that fits the pilot’s readiness.
