Stories with a local point of view
Build a focused South African catalogue around familiar places, voices and talent. Start with complete episodic stories that fit viewing on a phone, then let audience evidence guide the next commissions.
For investors & strategic partners
We are building BioSkop around South African storytelling, accessible viewing and lasting relationships with the talent behind the screen.
The product is in testing. Our next chapter is a small, rights-cleared content pilot, followed by a measured commercial launch.
Request a conversationThe thesis
Build a focused South African catalogue around familiar places, voices and talent. Start with complete episodic stories that fit viewing on a phone, then let audience evidence guide the next commissions.
Keep a Free viewing option supported by suitable sponsors. Offer one planned monthly Premium subscription for eligible Premium titles and an ad-free experience across the app.
Help viewers follow talent across productions. Build creator participation around explicit rights, agreed commercial terms and reporting that can be traced back to receipts.
The pilot will test this thesis through return visits, story completion, viewing reliability and the cost of serving an audience. These are measures to validate, rather than results we claim today.
Where we are
Device testing is ongoing. The sample catalogue is testing material, and the private pilot is not a public App Store release.
Public launch and paid activation follow these milestones. Premium checkout is currently disabled.
The commercial model
Suitable sponsors can fund eligible licensed Free stories. Clearly labelled sponsor placements belong between completed episodes, with limits, mute, Skip and Report controls.
Free playback continues when a sponsor is unavailable. Sponsor outcomes and reporting definitions are agreed before a campaign runs; no sponsor revenue is assumed today.
One South African monthly subscription will unlock eligible Premium titles and remove platform advertising across viewing and discovery, including Free titles.
Premium is coming soon. Separate Premium content and verified store purchases must be ready before checkout opens. The store will show the applicable local price and renewal terms.
Embedded brand references within a story may remain part of the programme. The planned launch offer has no daily pass, coin wallet or annual subscription.
Creator relationships
Creative value should come with commercial clarity.
Participating titles need signed agreements that define rights, beneficiaries, revenue sources, deductions and payment terms. A production credit alone does not establish a royalty entitlement.
BioSkop’s administrative reporting is designed around collected, reconciled receipts attributed to a title and period. Draft statements show the agreed allocations and documented adjustments for finance review.
Reporting does not transfer funds automatically. Actual rates stay unset until agreed; planning reserves in a financial model are not creator contract terms.
Our approach to creatorsInvestment priorities
Prepare a focused content pilot with documented streaming and promotional rights, genuine credits and a release schedule that can be sustained.
Validate playback on real devices and networks, improve accessibility and complete the payment, support and store-release work required before charging viewers.
Use rights-cleared clips and talent-led discovery to test acquisition. Direct further spend toward channels that demonstrate returning viewers and sustainable delivery costs.
Build the rights, sponsor approval, reconciliation and creator-statement processes that support trusted relationships as the catalogue grows.
Funding remains uncommitted. Forecasts are planning scenarios, and content scope, acquisition costs and delivery assumptions still require validation.
